Customer Quotes

"I'm just writing to let you know that I really appreciate your Harpsicle™ Harp line. My first attempt at the harp was with one of those horrible Pakistani 'harps' and it was awful. It didn't stay in tune and the sharping levers didn't sharp as much as it retuned the harp to a to a random note.
I was tempted to give up but I saw your harps advertised by Sylvia Woods Harp Center and I decided to try again. For only a little more money, your Sharpsicle™ Harp provided me with a cute, playable and pleasant instument. I was able to explore the harp and learn the basics.
Thank you for filling a real need in the market, the harp can be such an expensive instruement to get stared on, it's onderful that someone in the business saw that many potential harp players were only put off by the price and did something about it. I recommend your line to anyone who wantes to try out the harp but cannot afford to invest in a full-size model."

Amazon.com review

No one has reviewed this instrument when I arrived at this page, so I thought I would because Harpsicles are worth talking about! They are absolutely amazing instruments for their ranges and price. And they are just so fun with all their great colors! Made with love, care, and pride in the USA, these harp give real people a chance to own an amazing instrument in ways they can afford. [If you have ever shopped for performance / concert level harps with their $$$$$ price tags, you will know what I am talking about!] I own a Harpsicle Harp (although its a green one rather than the Maple One advertised on this page), and I also own a Sharpsicle, which is the next harp up from this model. (People who are interested in Celtic music and more advanced music should investigate the lever harps, which allow them to explore those levels of music.) I love my regular Harpsicle when I am just plucking the strings for my personal amusement, for the family, for my classes, or for relaxation.

The Harpsicle is the basic model, and it cannot be upgraded to the next level. However, for some people, this basic Harp is all that they need or want. The Harpsicle Company has a website where it offer a nice collection of music books and resources specifically designed for this instrument line. On the Harpsicle website, visitors can also hear how the instrument sounds by clicking the "Listen" link. A variety of other accessories like straps, stands, and cases are available too! The company also offers an excellent teaching DVD that can help beginners get started with their own Harpsicles. The DVD can be found with their new beginner's book published by Mel Bay: "Harpsicle Harp Method Book 1." You should be able to purchase this book on Amazon as well. [Harp beginners will find this information and visual data useful! So, if you are buying an instrument, buy the Harpsicle Harp Method Book 1 too.]

Google Harpsicle and lessons (or online lessons); you'll find teachers and music therapists like those at Harp Spirit and Rainbow of Sound using the Harpsicles with great responses and success. Hey, did you know that you can take harp lessons over the internet via Skype?? :D

This regular Harpsicle is definitely a great beginner's harp for children AND for adults. It makes a cool portable harp; it's worth buying if this is a first harp purchase. This quality instrument has a warm, lovely sound that pleases, and you can feel the music as you play. The strings are soft, and they do not hurt your hand. It's quite easy to tune if you have an electronic tuner, or those more musically inclined can probably use a piano. [To reduce the tension on the strings during travel, the new harp comes untuned. However, it does come with a tuning tool and instructions. Electronic tuner is sold separately, but it is worth the purchase so that it can arrive when or before the harp arrives. Harpsicle recommends that when you first receive your new harp to tune it every day because this helps to stabilize the new sound board.] Additionally, it smells nice! LOL (But then I love the smell of woods.)

Please don't even bother with those cheap harps made from other countries. They make look pretty and reasonable, but they are disappointing. If you want to truly play the harp, if it is your first time buying a "real" harp, go for the Harpsicle (..or if you are most advanced musically, the Sharpsicle, Flatsicle, or Fullsicle! Sure, that Harpsicle lines are a bit more expensive than those Mid-East products, but the Harpsicles and their advanced models excel in sound, workmanship, dependability, quality, customer support from Rees, and maintenance.

I couldn't agree more! I currently have 6 Harpsicles of various colors in my office where I teach harp online! 99% of my local students have chosen a Harpsicle (or the Flatsicle or Sharpsicle with levers). These harps make it possible for someone who never believed they could play or afford a harp to enjoy the calming effects and sheer delight of making sound on 26 lovely strings! One full octave of bass makes this is a harp of large range and appropriate for harp therapy.

I ordered the Rees Harp for my son and it is just way beyond my expectation. I ordered it through Musician's Friend and it came quickly and in great condtion.

Once I received it, I went to the Rees Harp website and was delighted to find that this is an entire family who work on each part the handmaking of these gorgeous harps. It's a little store on a Main Street of a small town and even the families dog comes to work with them. This harp is handcrafted in America and although this is their beginner model is is fully playable and has an absolutely mesmerizing sound. I am so happy that i did a lot of research and came upon this particular harp and company. If I ever travel to their area I would for sure visit their store and would love to meet the family that has produced these amazing items. On their website they have harps for all levels of expertise and my son just loves this one and if he keeps up with it I would only order another harp from Rees Harps. I think they seem like a truly unique company.

The natural maple is so pretty and aside for the beautiful sound and playability, the harp looks so nice in our living room in it's stand.

I just can't say enough how satisfied and thrilled we all all with the Rees Harp.

"Hello! I just wanted to send you a note to let you know how much I love my new Sharpsicle™ Harp. I had heard how nice they were, but was amazed at the sound and quality of workmanship when I received mine last week. I live in Colorado, but took it with me this week to Virginia. It fit in the overhead compartment of the plane and was very lightweight and easy to carry in the wrapper.
Thank you for making me such a nice harp!"

"The Harpsicle™ Harp that I saw at the conference is a great little harp. It is as light as a feather... well-constructed... sounds quite nice especially at that price."

"Your Harpsicle™ Harp has a beautiful voice for the quality of instrument it is (so light.) My harp teacher was amazed and has decided she needs one, too!"

"We ordered one of your Harpsicle™ Harps for our daughter... She received it on Christmas and began her dream to play the harp... She would not have gotten a harp had you not found a way to make such an affordable instrument. By the way, the pedal harpists who have seen it are amazed and impressed with the string spacing and the quality of the sound."

"The Harpsicle™ Harp is really great in small hospital rooms. It has a nice sound and is so light, much easier to carry than my larger, heavier harp."

"I purchased a Sharpsicle™ Harp lately and just want to tell you how very much I enjoy it. It's a beautiful little thing and it has the most beautiful tone. I'm thrilled with it. I'm so glad you make an inexpensive and excellent little harp, and I'm so glad I have one. Thanks so much."

“To anyone who is considering the purchase of a Harpsicle™ harp or William Rees harp. I am the owner of three Celtic harps, and the service and care I received from William Rees (and family) has been unparalleled in my customer service experiences. Not only does my Harpsicle resonate with a beautiful tone, but the care and service I received from them in a recent repair certainly parallels the beauty that the strings create. I will recommend Wm. Rees Instruments to anyone who asks, and thank you for your care and love for your craft and customers."
